The Costco Disneyland Deluxe Annual Pass Discount
UPDATE: I received word today 5/19/09 that this is no longer available. I haven’t had this confirmed yet, but in the meantime, please don’t plan on taking advantage of this until you have called Costco beforehand to guarantee this.
For those who’ve been looking at getting a Disneyland Deluxe Annual Pass (a steal at $269 for 315 days of Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure for a year), you might consider picking them up at a SoCal Costco.
The SoCal Costco locations sell the Deluxe Annual Pass for $269 BUT you get a $50 Disney Gift Card - meaning an effective $50 discount for each pass!
This offer is effective in SoCal Costco locations only - but is available to all residents (of course you must have a Costco membership to buy them). The $50 gift card is picked up at the gates.
Oh and for those of you familiar with the black out dates on the Deluxe AP? You can activate and enter Disneyland (not DCA) on your activation date, even if it’s a blackout date. So keep that in mind.
If you are getting multiple passes, you might consider putting one of the $50 gift cards towards the Deluxe Parking Upgrade ($59) for one of your family members or party. If you paid parking on your way into the park to activate your passes - bring your receipt - you’ll be reimbursed. This is just what my Sister and Brother-in-Law did recently and they say it was super smooth.
One caveat - I’m aware that occasionally these passes can sell out - I strongly suggest calling ahead to verify that the Costco you’re heading to has the passes in stock, and also we aren’t told when this promotion will end. Better include calling ahead as part of your vacation plans.
If you don’t have your AP yet - this might be a great chance to do it.

That really is a great deal!

I just purchased 5 of these from Costco at 7pm today. While the cardboard sign states the offer expires May 31st, the redemption certificates they gave me have an expiration of 10/31/2009. Disney, because of the lackluster economy, probably decided to extend the offer through summer. But…check ahead and make sure you read the expiration dates on the certificates.
And, the certificates state that they cannot be combined with other offers, but there is no statement prohibiting the application of the $50 toward an upgrade.

I bought 4 passes at my local (La Habra) Costco last night! I went a couple of weeks ago & there weren’t any on display & I thought I had missed out, but they were there last night. Passes must be activated by 10/13/09.

Both Disney and Costco charge $269. However, when you go to the ticket booth at Disney with the voucher you purchased at Costco, the cast member will give you a $50 gift card good for use anywhere in Disneyland for each voucher. So say you are a family of 4 and buy the Costco passes instead of buying via the Disney website or the Disney ticket booth, you will get 4x $50 = $200 in gift cards. You can use $59 of it for annual parking.
We view the gift cards as Disney giving us free souvenirs and/or food in the park. If you are spending at the concessions anyway, it is a good deal. Also, say you never buy concessions and are a family of 4, you could purchase 3 from Costco and use the $150 in giftcards towards the 4th annual pass. Then the last annual pass will only cost you $119 extra in cash and brings the average cost of the annual passes for a family of 4 to $231/pass.

Costco no longer offers the Disneyland Annual Passport, as of about mid-August 2009.
